The Intown Neighborhood of Chosewood Park
By Shana Arnold, Associate Broker
As a longtime resident of Chosewood Park and a passionate neighborhood advocate, I’ve witnessed tremendous growth in recent years. This comes as no surprise, given Chosewood Park’s prime location just south of Grant Park and its connection to the Southeast section of the Beltline.
Chosewood Park was originally established by C.L. Chosewood, a prominent businessman in the early 20th century. Many of the neighborhood’s charming bungalows were built in the 1920s and 1930s to accommodate the housing needs of workers at the nearby General Motors assembly plant.
Mr. Chosewood began his career as a City of Atlanta police officer, quickly advancing to detective before securing contracts for amusement and refreshment operations at Grant Park. His success in running an amusement park and his savvy business ventures ultimately led to the creation of Chosewood Park and its iconic bungalows. He is laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery, located in nearby Grant Park.
Today, Chosewood Park is a thriving, centrally located Beltline community, celebrated for its strong neighborhood spirit and active community groups. The park itself spans over 15 acres and features a new playground, tennis courts, soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, and serene nature trails—making it a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike.
Shana was featured on homes.com as an expert on Chosewood Park. “A lot is happening. We have a lot of new construction coming into the neighborhood. More people are moving here. But it still stands that it’s a tight-knit community,” says Shana Arnold, a neighborhood resident and Realtor with Adams Realtors.
