Adams Realtors Run for the Park

History

In late 2002, two of our Adams Realtors agents, Erika Brown, and Debbie Jones-Kelly, approached me about starting a festival in Grant Park. The festival’s purpose would be to highlight the Park and the Grant Park neighborhood and raise funds for the Grant Park Conservancy. The Conservancy is a nonprofit organization committed to the restoration, beautification, and maintenance of Atlanta’s oldest park. Being an avid runner, I suggested that we also include a 5K run as part of the proposed festival.

In late August 2003, the festival, called the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, was held in the park along with the first Adams Realtors Run for the Park. After more than a decade of running the festival, we turned over the operation of the Summer Shade Festival to the Grant Park Conservancy. Adams Realtors kept the 5K Run for the Park in house. Each year our staff and agents work on promoting the run, securing sponsors, race day security and registration.  Our agents and staff also work as course monitors along the race route the morning of the run.

The course, which goes around the park and through the historic neighborhood, is certified as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Over the years, we have raised well over $100,000 for the Grant Park Conservancy.  I look forward to seeing you on the course on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
